A worksplate, BEYER PEACOCK, 1902, from a Tasmanian Government Railway 3ft 6ins gauge A Class 4-4-0 express passenger engine. The first six of the Class were built by BP in 1892, the final two, Works Nos 4309 and 4310, running numbers A8 and A9, in 1902, and this plate is from one of the final two. These were rebuilt with Belpaire boilers between 1927 and 1932 and withdrawn in 1950. All were sold for scrap in 1956 except No A4, now preserved at the Don River Railway at Devonport. Cast brass, 10"x5¾", cleaned and the front repainted. £350-500 |
