A nameplate WESTERN CHALLENGER and cabside numberplate D1019 from a Class 52 built at Swindon in May 1963. New to Old Oak Common; withdrawn from Laira in May 1973 and cut up at Swindon Works in October 1974. Cast aluminium letters and beading on steel backplate. Length 110". The loco was in a collision while in service and the lettering of the first word is scored, the third and fourth letters were lost and replaced. The nameplate has been restored on the front. The cabside is in similar condition, but undamaged, 32½"x10", the face repainted. (2) £5000-7000 |
