A nameplate, REITBOK, from a LNER B1 Class 4-6-0 No 1021, built at Darlington, Works No 2001, in March 1947, becoming BR 61021, and named when built after a species of antelope found in southern Africa. Allocated to Heaton by January 1948, it moved later the same year to Darlington where it spent most of its BR days before moving in September 1960 to York North from where it was withdrawn on 6 June 1967 and sold for scrap to Hughes Bolckow at Blyth. Cast brass, length 42¾", in ex loco condition. £6000-7000 |
