A cabside numberplate, MASHONALAND RAILWAY, 113, from a 3ft 6ins gauge 9th Class 4-8-0 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 21476, in 1917 for the Mashonaland Railway Co which became part of Rhodesia Railways Co in 1927 and of Rhodesia Railways Ltd in 1936. It was re-boilered and re-classified to Class 9B in 1939 and transferred to Zambia Railways in July 1967 when the system was split between Zambia and Rhodesia. It was stabled in poor condition with no tender at Kabwe New Workshops in 2008, in the guise of No 84 with which it had switched identities. Cast brass, 19¼"x12¾", repainted. £300-500 |
