A worksplate ANDREW BARCLAY 1741 of 1921 from a 3ft 9½in gauge 0-4-0ST with outside cylinders new in June 1921 to British Portland Cement Manufacturers Ltd., Johnson’s Branch works, Greenhithe, Kent, with the name GOLIATH. The 3ft 9½in railway at Greenhithe was gradually replaced by standard gauge and finally closed around 1927. GOLIATH was rebuilt in 1927 by Andrew Barclay to standard gauge and continued to work at Johnson’s Branch (latterly without nameplates) until transferred to Wouldham Works, Essex in April 1960. It was scrapped on site there by W. Rice of Slades Green, Kent around July 1961. Cast brass, 16¾"x11¾", the front repainted. £250-350 |
