A worksplate HUDSWELL CLARKE, 533, 1899, from a standard gauge 0-4-0ST, new in December 1899 to the contractor Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons at their Barrhead depot, Glasgow and named MONTGOMERY. It was used on a number of contracts in Scotland, including the construction of Provan Gasworks, Glasgow, completed in 1904. Later de-named it became No 16. Between 1922 and 1924 it worked on the contract to improve the Watling Street road between Rochester and Strood in Kent. By 1925 it was in use on the McAlpine contract to construct Wissington Sugar Factory, Norfolk for British Sugar Manufacturing Ltd. On completion of this it was sold to the sugar company (later British Sugar Corporation Ltd) and used for shunting the coal yard at Wissington. It later lost its running number 16 and carried the name MAC. Sold for scrap to J. Yallop of Wareham around July 1957 and cut up in April 1958.
