A nameplate, TRANS-JORDAN, from the LMS Jubilee Class 6P 4-6-0 No 5633, BR 45633, built at Crewe and allocated new to Crewe North on 21 November 1934. Named by 4 May 1936 after the Emirate of Trans-Jordan, a then British controlled territory, when British control ceased it was renamed ADEN after the then British Colony at a ceremony at Euston station on 4 September 1946. Its later sheds included Rugby, Longsight, Preston, Carnforth and Warrington Dallam from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 16 October 1965 and despatched for scrap to T.W. Ward at Killamarsh on 15 March 1966. Cast brass, length 34½", the front repainted; the only Jubilee nameplate with a hyphen. £7500-9000 |
