A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY 61625, Darlington, 1931, from a LNER B17 Class 4-6-0 No 2825 built at Darlington in February 1931 and named RABY CASTLE after the castle near Staindrop in Co Durham owned by Lord Barnard. It was renumbered 1625 in 1946, becoming BR 61625. Allocated to Norwich by January 1948, it moved later that year to Cambridge and in 1953 to Ipswich, returning for a final few weeks to Cambridge from where it was withdrawn on 3 December 1959 and cut up at Doncaster Works. Cast brass, 9"x5", in ex loco condition. £500-800 |
