A smokebox numberplate, 30771, from a Southern Railway N15 King Arthur Class 4-6-0 No 771 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 23217, in June 1925 and named SIR SAGRAMORE after Sagramore le Desirous, a Knight of Arthur's Court in Arthurian Legend. Allocated to Dover by January 1948 and later Stewarts Lane, Basingstoke, Bournemouth and Salisbury from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 1 April 1961 and cut up at Eastleigh Works in the week ending 6 May 1961. The front repainted, the BR(S) Eastleigh triangle cast on the back. £1000-1500 |
