A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY 69865, REBUILT DARLINGTON, 1935, from a LNER A8 Class 4-6-2T originally built by the North Eastern Railway at Darlington in March 1914 as a Class D 4-4-2T No 2158, becoming LNER Class H1. Rebuilt by the LNER at Darlington in May 1935 as a 4-6-2T and re-classified as A8 Class, it retained its NER number until renumbered 9865 in 1946, becoming BR 69865. Allocated to Blaydon by January 1948, it moved in May of that year to Whitby where it remained until withdrawn on 21 April 1958. It was cut up at Darlington Works. Cast brass, 9"x5", lightly cleaned but unpainted. £500-700 |
