A smokebox numberplate, 63653, from a 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Munitions order for the Railway Operating Division of the Royal Engineers to Robinson's Great Central Railway design by Kitson & Co, Works No 5194, in April 1918, ROD No 1612. It was shipped new to France where it worked until returning to the UK in December 1919 after hostilities had ceased when it was loaned to the London & North Western Railway as their No 2902. It was returned to the ROD in August 1921 and stored at Queensferry until acquired by the LNER in December 1923, as their O4 Class No 6370, renumbered 3653 in 1946, becoming BR 63653. Allocated to March by January 1948, it spent most of its BR days at Frodingham with a final six months at Doncaster from where it was withdrawn on 17 April 1966 and sold for scrap to Station Steel at Wath.
