| Lot 482 | A worksplate, VULCAN, 4942, 1943, from a War Department Austerity 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Supply order in October 1943, WD No 77126. Loaned to the LNER in October 1943, it returned to the WD November 1944 and was placed in store until purchased by BR and allocated to Wakefield on 11 June 1949. Except for five months at Sowerby Bridge in 1953, it spent all its BR days at Wakefield from where it was withdrawn on 24 November 1964 and cut up at Darlington Works. Cast brass, 9¾"x5¾", the front lightly cleaned. £150-300 |
