A South African Railways cabside numberplate, 2543, from a 3ft 6ins gauge Class 19D 4-8-2 built by Borsig in Germany, Works No 14660, in 1937. The 19Ds were the most numerous type of branch line locos ever built by the SAR and saw service until right at the end of the South African steam era. Cast brass, 20½"x14½", the front repainted. £250-400 |
