A workplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 65792, GATESHEAD, 1906, from a North Eastern Railway Class P3, LNER J27 Class, 0-6-0 No 1018 built at Darlington in September 1906. The initial order for the first twenty J27s, including this one, was placed in June 1905 to be constructed at Gateshead, hence the works name on the plate, but the order was transferred to Darlington. It was renumbered 5792 in 1946, becoming BR 65792. A long time North Blyth engine, it was withdrawn from there in May 1965 and sold for scrap to Clayton & Davis at Dunston on Tyne in November 1965. Cast brass, 9"x5", the front cleaned but unpainted. £150-300 |
