A worksplate, GREAT CENTRAL Ry, GORTON, 1913, from a GCR Class 11E, LNER D10 Class, 4-4-0 Director No 429, the first of the Class, which became LNER 5429 and was renumbered 2650 in 1946, becoming BR 62650. Originally named SIR ALEXANDER HENDERSON, it was renamed SIR DOUGLAS HAIG in 1917 and was given its final name PRINCE HENRY in about 1920. It spent all its BR days at Northwich from where it was withdrawn on 15 February 1954 and cut up at Gorton Works in the week ending 13 March 1954. Cast brass, 10¾"x6¾", the front repainted, the back marked with the engine name long ago. £500-800 |
