| Lot 378 | A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co Ltd, HYDE PARK, 24773, 1942, from a Stanier LMS type 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Supply order for the War Department in May 1942, WD No 70560. Loaned new to the LMS in June 1942, it returned to the WD in July 1943 and was sold to the LMS in December 1943, LMS No 8273, becoming BR 48273. Allocated first to Wellingborough in December 1943 and later Coalville, Derby, Crewe South, Toton and Trafford Park from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 14 August 1965 and despatched for scrap to J. Buttigieg at Newport on 25 November 1965. Cast brass, 7¾" diameter, the front repainted. £150-300 |
