A GWR cabside numberplate, 3406, from the 3300 Bulldog Class 4-4-0 built at Swindon in March 1904, numbered 3468 when built and renumbered 3406 under the GWR 1912 renumbering scheme. It was named CALCUTTA when built, one of a group of Bulldogs named after countries and states of the British Empire. Allocated to Pontypool Road by January 1948, it moved the following year to Hereford from where it was withdrawn on 31 January 1951 and cut up at Swindon Works during the four weeks ending 24 March 1951. Cast brass, in ex loco condition, the beading stamped with the usual engine and boiler details. £1500-2000 |
