A nameplate, HOWARD OF EFFINGHAM, from the LMS 6P Jubilee Class 4-6-0 No 5670 built at Crewe in 1935 and named on 1 March 1937 after Admiral Charles Howard (1536-1624). Allocated new to Crewe North on 17 December 1935 and later Carlisle Upperby, Patricroft, Edge Hill, Willesden, Rugby, Derby and Stockport from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 24 October 1964 and despatched for scrap to T.W. Ward at Killamarsh on 28 January 1965. Cast brass, 52½", the front restored. £9000-12000 |
