A late 19th or early 20th century Caledonian Railway, German-made, 12" fusee drop-case clock obtained by the vendor from St. Enoch station. Overall height: 22½" inches. Solid oak case in good restored condition. Box with bottom door, single side door (replaced, with clumsy fixing mechanism) and glazed, oval pendulum window. Ogee moulded dial surround of four piece construction. Dial with minor damage, written Caledonian Railway Co., slightly rubbed, the rear with several pencil notes from repairers or owners, the earliest dated 1933. Spun brass bezel with sight ring now soldered in place. Wire fusee movement between rectangular, screwed plates, the rear stamped W&H Sch indicating the makers Winterhalder & Hoffmeier and with their characteristic features. Complete with Pendulum and winder. £500-800 |
