A worksplate, ROBERT STEPHENSON & HAWTHORNS Ltd, 7180, 1944, from an Austerity type 0-6-0ST built to Ministry of Supply order for the War Department, WD 71526. In 1947 it was sold to the National Coal Board and arrived at Haydock Colliery in August 1947. It had moved to Clock Face Colliery south of St Helens by May 1948 and was named CLOCKFACE (in one word). It had returned to Haydock by mid 1954 but moved to Sutton Manor Colliery by March 1959 and also worked at Bold Colliery. It went in about June 1970 to Cronton Colliery where it was scrapped by Mee & Cocker Ltd of Leigh in September 1972. Cast iron, 13"x8½", repainted. £150-300 |
