A nameplate, TREMATON HALL, from the GWR 4900 Hall Class 4-6-0 No 5949 built at Swindon in April 1935 and named after the 19th Century Georgian house two miles west of the Saltash Bridge in Cornwall. Allocated to Bristol Bath Road by January 1948, it alternated between there and nearby St Philips Marsh until moving in September 1960 to Swindon from where it was withdrawn on 30 May 1961 and cut up at the adjacent Works in the week ending 23 September 1961. £5000-7000 |
