A BR(S) mid-20th century 8" fusee roundhead clock used at Waterloo. Overall height: 11½". Oak case with dovetailed and screwed box and four piece dial surround. Dial, unusually riveted to a false plate, written B.R (S) 11001 and made in England, Smiths. Spun brass bezel with clip-in sight ring. Fusee movement stamped 18223 on both plates. Bought in 1949 for £5-10-0 plus £1-16-8 purchase tax and used in the Public Relations office at Waterloo. Complete with pendulum, winding key and copy of its entry in SR clock records. £500-700 |
