A smokebox numberplate, 61040, from the LNER B1 Class 4-6-0 No 1040, ROEDEER, built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 25796, in April 1946. Of the forty locos in the class named after types of Antelope, this was the only one named after a British species. Allocated to Norwich by January 1948, its later sheds included Darlington, Mirfield, Low Moor and Wakefield from where it was withdrawn on 10 July 1966 and despatched for scrap to A. King at Norwich on 19 September 1966. The front repainted. £600-900 |
