A nameplate, GLENCOE, from a South African Railways Class 12A 4-8-2 No 2122 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 22762, in 1920 for goods traffic. It was subsequently reboilered and re-classified to Class 12AR. Initially the Class was confined to the Transvaal but during the 1960s began working in other areas, No 2122 moving to Glencoe depot from which it took its name. As the depot's most popular engine, it was always kept in immaculate condition. The class were withdrawn during the 1980s. Cast brass, ornately shaped, 49"x15" overall, cleaned and the front repainted. £300-500 |
