| Lot 227 | A GWR cabside numberplate, 5031, from the 4073 Castle Class 4-6-0 TOTNES CASTLE built at Swindon in May 1934 and named after the mediaeval Castle in the Devon market town. A long time Stafford Road favourite, it spent virtually all its BR days there before moving at the very end to Oxley from where it was withdrawn on 22 October 1963 and sold for scrap to George Cohen at Morriston on 1 January 1964. Cast brass, the second two numbers lightly polished, otherwise superb original condition. £3000-4000 |
