A worksplate, ANDREW BARCLAY, 359, 1941, from a standard gauge 0-4-0DM new to the War Department at Kinnerley, Shropshire as WD 44. Later to the Longmoor Military Railway and sent to France just after D-day for shunting the stores department at Bayeux. Returned to Great Britain in 1946. Later renumbered 70044, then 823 and finally 220. Operated at a number of Army depots until loaned in May 1975 to Nobel Explosives Co. Ltd at Annan and purchased by them in May 1980. Acquired by Tarmac Ltd about 1995 and moved to their yard at Newmains, Lanarkshire, moving again in 1998 to Tarmac’s Hayes Depot, Middlesex. Purchased around 2014 by the Wye Valley Group, Hereford and currently located in their yard. Cast brass, 16¾"x11¾", small areas polished otherwise original condition £200-350 |
