| Lot 113 | A smokebox numberplate, 42224, from a LMS Class 4 2-6-4T No 2224 built at Derby and allocated new to Plaistow on 16 April 1946, becoming BR 42224. It worked on the London Tilbury & Southend route, allocated also to Tilbury and Shoeburyness, until displaced in 1962, moving to Stoke, Chester, Fleetwood and Lostock Hall from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 21 January 1967 and sold for scrap to George Cohen at Kettering. In ex loco condition; a weld repair between the last two numbers. £300-500 |
