A smokebox numberplate, 11304, from a Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway 528 Class 0-6-0 No 558 built by Sharp Stewart & Co, Works No 2704, in August 1877 as a tender engine but rebuilt by the LYR as a 0-6-0 saddle tank in July 1891. It became LMS Class Class 2F No 11304 and was allocated to Horwich Works for use a Works shunter. Although allocated the BR number 51304, it continued to carry this LMS smokebox numberplate until withdrawal from Horwich Works in the week ending 23 December 1961. It was cut up at the Works on 22 March 1962. In ex loco condition. £500-800 |
