A nameplate, EVENLEY HALL, from the GWR 4900 Hall Class 4-6-0 No 4923 built at Swindon in April 1929 and named after the Georgian mansion just over one mile south of Brackley in South Northants, used as a children's home from the late 1940s but now a private residence. Allocated to Oxley by January 1948, its later sheds included eight years at Old Oak Common and four years at Landore with a final three years back at Oxley from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 30 May 1964 and sold for scrap to Cashmores at Great Bridge on 27 July 1964. £5000-6000 |
