A GWR cabside numberplate, 2847, from a 2800 Class 2-8-0 built at Swindon in December 1912. Converted to oil burning and renumbered 4811 in September 1947, it was re-converted and regained its original number in June 1949. Allocated to Laira by January 1948, it moved the following year to Banbury where it spent over eight years before moving towards the end to Cardiff Canton and Severn Tunnel Junction from where it was withdrawn on 9 March 1960 and cut up at Swindon Works in the week ending 9 April 1960. Cast brass, in ex loco condition. £800-1200 |
