A worksplate, LMS BUILT 1914, HORWICH, from a Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway 1546 Class 0-8-0 No 1583 built at Horwich in January 1914. It became LMS No 12877 and was allocated the BR number 52877 but was withdrawn from Aintree in the week ending 2 October 1948 without having acquired this number. It was scrapped at Horwich Works on 18 December 1948 and the vendor obtained this plate from the person who removed it from the engine. Cast brass, 10½"x6", the front repainted, a vertical crack at the top centre repaired. £100-200 |
