A GWR cabside numberplate, 4991, from a 4900 Hall Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon in February 1931 and named COBHAM HALL after the former home of Viscount Cobham, a GWR Director from 1878 to 1890, near Gravesend in Kent. Allocated to Oxley by January 1948 and later Stafford Road, Pontypool Road, Taunton, St Philips Marsh and Swindon from where it was withdrawn on 28 December 1963 and taken for scrap by Cashmores at Great Bridge on 17 June 1964. Cast brass, in ex loco condition. £1000-1500 |
