A nameplate, LORD RODNEY, from the Southern Railway LN Class Lord Nelson 4-6-0 No 863, BR 30863, built at Eastleigh in October 1929 and named after the 1st Baron Rodney (1718-1792), the English Admiral best known for his commands in the American War of Independence. A long time Bournemouth engine, it moved in 1956 to Eastleigh from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 10 February 1962 and cut up at Ashford Works by 24 February. £6000-9000 |
