A GWR cabside numberplate, 6869, from a 6800 Grange Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon in March 1939 and named RESOLVEN GRANGE after a monastic grange five miles from Neath, South Glamorgan, and attached to Margam Abbey. Allocated to Old Oak Common by January 1948, its later sheds included Penzance, Laira, St Philips Marsh, Southall and Cardiff East Dock from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 10 July 1965 and sold for scrap to Birds Commercial Motors at Morriston on 25 August 1965. Cast brass, in ex loco condition. £1200-1600 |
