A massive, early 20th century, 30", roundhead fusee clock supplied to the Midland Railway by Potts of Leeds and used in the circulating area at Morecambe Promenade which was rebuilt and reopened in 1907, a likely date for the clock. Overall height: 36¾" inches. Case entirely of solid pine, originally painted. Dovetailed box with two side doors and bottom door; all probably replaced, hanging plate replaced. Dial surround of standard sectional construction, permanently fixed to the box and not glazed. The vitreous enamel dial with minor repairs, written Potts & Sons, Leeds. Minute hand counterbalanced and with repairs; both hands ribbed. Substantial chain fusee movement between tapered plates supported on a seat board. Complete with replaced pendulum and cranked winder. £800-1200 |
