A worksplate, ORENSTEIN & KOPPEL, BERLIN, No 12664, 1935, together with its owners plate, COMHLUCHT SIUICRE EIREANN TEO (Irish Sugar Company Ltd), TUAM, and O&K emblem, from a 0-4-0T, which unusually also had a well tank, one of nine 5ft 3ins O&K CSET Class locos built in Nazi Germany for three of the Company's sugar beet factories in Ireland, this example one of three used at the Tuam factory in County Galway, their No 3. These were known locally as sugarpuffs. This set of plates was acquired by the vendor with permission in 1966 soon after the loco was withdrawn. The works plate and owners plate were attached to the cabside, the emblem to the smokebox door. Each cast brass, the worksplate, 13¼"x5", the owners plate, 10½"x6", the emblem, 7¼"x4½", the fronts repainted. (3) £500-800 |
