A smokebox numberplate, 34019, from the Southern Railway Bulleid light pacific 4-6-2 No 21C119, BIDEFORD, built at Brighton in December 1945, becoming BR 34019, and one of the Class to retain its original streamlined casing to the end. Allocated new to Exmouth Junction, it was soon sent to Ramsgate but returned to Exmouth Junction before moving in 1951 to Nine Elms where it remained for over seven years until transferred to Brighton in 1958 where it spent five years. Withdrawn from Nine Elms on 19 March 1967, it was sold for scrap to Cashmores at Newport who took it on 11 September 1967. The front repainted, the back marked with the BR(S) Eastleigh triangle. £2000-3000 |
