A worksplate pattern, BEYER PEACOCK, 1950 with Australian Garratt patents. The only Garratts built in 1950 were ten 3'6" gauge 4-8-2+2-8-4s built for Queensland Government Railways, Works Nos 7341-50, and based on the War Department Light Garratt design, QGR Nos 1001-10. Normally the works number digits were placed in the recessed box of the pattern as each sequential plate was cast. Cast aluminium with brass rim to the rear, 19¼"x10", the works number sequence noted on the front of the plate. £150-300 |
