A late 19th century LYR 12" mahogany roundhead clock from Brighouse. Overall height: 14¾" inches. Box back stamped L.Y three times, pin holes in the top where a location plate would have been fixed and many pinholes in the left side, an LYR characteristic. Single side door and replaced bottom door. Four piece dial surround a replacement but with original peg battens fitted. Dial written B.R. (N.E.) 15782 over the shadow of Agar & Sons L.Y.R. **** Bury, the LYR number scratched off. Old spun bezel with sight ring now soldered in place. Wire fusee movement between shaped plates with feet and knopped pillars. Front plate scratched 15782. Pendulum bob stamped 1755, possibly the LYR number. Dial number indicates an LMS clock taken over by the North Eastern region after nationalisation. Records show that it was used in the Parcels Office at Brighouse. Complete with pendulum, winder and copy of record card. £600-900 |
