A nameplate, MARBLE HALL, from the GWR 4900 Hall Class 4-6-0 No 5907 built at Swindon in May 1931 and probably named after the London pleasure gardens demolished in about 1820 to make way for the Lambeth end of Vauxhall Bridge. Allocated to Tyseley by January 1948 and later Gloucester, Oxford, Old Oak Common and Reading from where it was withdrawn on 3 November 1961 and cut up at Swindon Works before the end of the same month. £6000-7000 |
