A worksplate, ANDREW BARCLAY, 859, 1900, from a 0-4-0ST new to Langloan Iron & Chemical Co. Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, which closed in 1921. Taken over (with loco) in 1938 by Thos. W. Ward Ltd as a wagon repair depot. Sold to the War Department in 1942, becoming WD 222, later 70222 SAPPER at Weedon Technical Stores Depot, Northants. Sold February 1949 to Abelson (Engineers) Ltd, Sheldon, Birmingham for use as a hire locomotive. Sold July 1952 to Joseph Perrin, Haulage Contractor, Birkenhead, where it was named VULCAN. Sold for scrap January 1964 to Robert Smith & Sons, Birkenhead. Cast brass, 16¾"x11¾", in ex loco condition. £400-500 |
