A GWR cabside numberplate, 2948, from the 2900 Saint Class 4-6-0 STACKPOLE COURT built at Swindon in June 1912 and named after the baronial mansion near Pembroke owned by Earl Cawdor, subsequently demolished but the landscaped gardens now owned by the National Trust. Allocated to Hereford by January 1948, it finished its days at Bristol Bath Road from where it was withdrawn on 15 November 1951 and cut up at Swindon Works in the four weeks ending on 26 January 1952. Cast brass, the front repainted. £1500-2000 |
