A (GWR) cabside numberplate, 7028, from the GWR 4073 Castle Class 4-6-0 CADBURY CASTLE built at Swindon in May 1950 and, according to Swindon records, named after an ancient earthwork at Thorverton near Exeter. Allocated new to Landore on 19 May 1950, it spent most of its working life there with a brief stay at Carmarthen and a final couple of years or so at Llanelly from where it was withdrawn on 28 December 1963 and sold for scrap to Barlborough Metals at Chesterfield on 19 March 1964. Cast brass, the front repainted. £3500-4000 |
