A nameplate OSPREY from the Peppercorn A1 Class 4-6-2 No 60131 built at Doncaster, Works No 2050, in October 1948 and named in June 1950, a re-use of the name but not the nameplates originally bestowed on the Gresley A4 No 60003 until that engine was renamed after a LNER director. Allocated new to Kings Cross, it moved three years later to Grantham and in 1953 to Copley Hill where it spent over nine years before late spells at Ardsley and Neville Hill from where it was withdrawn on 4 October 1965 and despatched for scrap to T.W. Ward at Killamarsh on 25 November 1965. Cast brass 40¾", the front repainted. The back bears the names of other locomotives that had nameplates of the same length.
