A worksplate, HUNSLET 2121, 1940, from a standard gauge 0-4-0DM new in December 1940 to Royal Ordnance Factory No 34 at Wrexham, as their No 2. In 1946 it was taken over with the site by Wales & Monmouthshire Industrial Estates Ltd and sold around May 1962 to dealers Thos. W. Ward Ltd. of Sheffield. Sold by them to Duncan Logan (Plant) Ltd, of Muir of Ord, Ross & Cromarty. They used it on a number of contracts in Scotland including the Tay road bridge contract where it came to a sticky end, falling off the bridge and being wrecked in 1965 or 1966, although this worksplate survived undamaged. It was eventually disposed of for scrap around 1970. Cast brass, 11½"x8", the front repainted. £100-200 |
