A smokebox numberplate, 32563, from a London Brighton & South Coast Railway E4 Class 0-6-2T No 563 built at Brighton in December 1901 and named WINEHAM after a village in the Company's territory, although the name was removed before the end of 1910. It retained its LBSCR number in SR days but was later renumbered 2563 and became BR 32563. Allocated to Norwood Junction by January 1948, it spent most of its BR days at Nine Elms and Eastleigh from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 1 July 1961 and cut up at Ashford Works in the week ending 5 August 1961. In ex loco condition, a weld repair between 5 and 6, the back is marked with the BR(S) triangle. £400-600 |
