A nameplate, MERTHYR VALE, from a standard gauge 0-6-0ST built by Peckett, Works No 483, in October 1890 and new to Nixon's Navigation Co Ltd at Merthyr Vale Colliery, Merthyr Vale, their No 5, where it spent all its working life until scrapped on site in May 1962. The Colliery and its locos were transferred to Llewellyn (Nixon) Ltd in May 1929 and to Powell Duffryn Ltd in 1936, becoming part of the NCB in January 1947. Cast brass, 50" long, the front repainted. £700-1000 |
