A locomotive tritone chime whistle from LNER A4 class 60017, SILVER FOX built at Doncaster, Works No 1823, in December 1935, as No 2512. It spent almost all its life at Kings Cross with a final few months at New England from where it was withdrawn in October 1963. The whistle is accompanied by its original BR receipt and associated paperwork, dated August 1964, to Mr W.J.Eccles of Farnborough, showing the loco number 60017. Chromed cast brass, 13" tall, diameter 4½". £3000-4000 |
