A nameplate, THE BEDALE, from a LNER D49 Hunt Class 4-4-0 No 235 built at Darlington in June 1932 and named after the foxhunt operating in the Bedale and Leeming Bar area. Renumbered 2740 in 1946, it became BR 62740. Allocated to York North by January 1948 and later Starbeck, Neville Hill and Hull Dairycoates from where it was withdrawn on 1 August 1960 and cut up at Darlington Works. Cast brass, 33" long, the front repainted. £12000-15000 |
