A late 19th century Hull & Barnsley Railway 12" roundhead clock in mahogany case from the Time Office, Springhead Loco. Running Shed, Hull. Overall height: 14¾". Box with single side door and bottom door secured by a key-operated lock. Convex moulded one-piece dial surround with repaired split and abraded in places, originally with bezel lock- now removed, containing a replaced old style spun bezel with soldered sight ring. Dial with minor damage and crazing, written LNER 4648, with the partial shadow of H B & WR Jn Ry in the upper half, Cooke & Son Hull clearly visible in the lower. The rear with repair notes from 1885 and later, also in pencil No. 16, perhaps the H&B number once on the dial but now leaving no obvious shadow. Chain fusee movement between rectangular plates. 4648 marked in various places on case and movement. Complete with pendulum, winding key, door key and copies of the LNER records confirming location.
